Safeguarding
Haslingfield School is committed to protecting and safeguarding the welfare of every child in our care. We work hard to create a safe, supportive environment where children can learn, grow and feel secure.

Our staff and governors are dedicated to maintaining a culture where pupils are encouraged to talk, feel listened to, and know there are trusted adults they can approach whenever they are worried. We make sure children understand how confidentiality works and that their concerns will be taken seriously.
Â
We promote a positive, nurturing ethos that helps every child feel valued. We listen carefully, respond to children’s needs, and share information appropriately and in line with safeguarding protocols to ensure their safety.

If you have any concern, however small, about the welfare or safety of a child, please contact the school’s Safeguarding Team without delay.
Prevent
Prevent is an important part of our safeguarding responsibilities at Haslingfield School, and forms a key element of our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy.
Â
Our Prevent Lead is Miss Donna Peck, Headteacher.

Prevent is a national strategy designed to stop people becoming involved in terrorism or supporting extremist ideas. It covers all forms of extremism, including extreme right‑wing views, religious extremism and other radicalising influences. Since July 2015, all schools have had a legal duty to safeguard children from the risks of radicalisation and extremism.

At Haslingfield School, this means we work proactively to help protect pupils from extremist or violent views. We also provide a safe, supportive space where children can explore and discuss challenging topics, helping them develop the knowledge and confidence to keep themselves safe.

Safer Recruitment
Haslingfield School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people. We expect every member of our school community to share this commitment.

Our employment policies and practices are designed to create and maintain a safe environment where pupils can thrive and make the most of their learning opportunities. We recruit, retain and develop competent, motivated staff who are well‑suited to their roles and supported to excel in them.

As part of our safer recruitment procedures, all applicants are required to complete an enhanced DBS check, alongside other necessary pre‑employment safeguarding checks.
Visitors to SchoolÂ

All visitors must report to the school office via the main entrance. On arrival, a member of the office team will greet you, ensure you have signed in using our electronic visitor system, and confirm that you have read our visitor safeguarding notice. We expect all visitors to follow the school’s safeguarding protocol at all times, and both staff and pupils are trained to respond appropriately if they feel an adult is not meeting these expectations.

Visitors will only be permitted entry to the school if they have a pre‑arranged appointment with the relevant member of staff.

Anyone who has regular contact with children — including parent helpers, governors, volunteers, club leaders and after‑school club staff — must have an up‑to‑date DBS check and must complete our safeguarding and code‑of‑conduct induction. This requirement is strictly enforced without exception.

We take any breach of school security extremely seriously. If you have concerns at any time, please speak to a member of staff or a governor.
