Cherry Tree Class

Cherry Tree Class is home to our Reception children, along with some of our youngest Year 1 pupils.

 

The class is taught by Mrs Chadwick and supported by our dedicated Early Years Learning Coach, Mrs Warner, with additional Learning Coach support from the wider Learning Coach team from time to time.

Learning in Cherry Tree follows the Revised Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, with early reading and phonics taught through the Government‑approved Little Wandle Letters and Sounds programme.

​

Reception children enjoy Forest School every Friday morning, led by Mrs Warner, from after October half term until May half term. Year 1 and Year 2 children also take part in Forest School once each half term from November through to May.  After May half term these sessions are replaced by swimming. They also take part in a weekly PE lesson taught by our specialist sports teachers, JS Sports, giving them plenty of opportunities to stay active and develop new physical skills.

In December, children in Cherry Tree and Apple Tree classes take part in a joyful Nativity performance for the school and their families.
