Apple Tree Class

Apple Tree Class is home to our Year 1 children and the younger half of our Year 2 cohort. The class is taught by Miss Whitlock, supported by Learning Coaches who work across the school, including Mrs Pink, Mrs Pope and Mrs Lovegrove.

Early reading and phonics are taught using the Government‑approved Little Wandle Letters and Sounds programme, giving children a strong foundation for confident, fluent reading.

Apple Tree Class enjoys a weekly PE lesson delivered by our specialist sports teachers, JS Sports, providing regular opportunities to stay active and develop physical skills.

​

Year 1 and Year 2 children also take part in Forest School once each half term from November through to May, enjoying outdoor learning and exploration. In the summer term, the children swim twice a week, building water confidence and essential swimming skills.

In December, children in Cherry Tree and Apple Tree classes take part in a joyful Nativity performance for the school and their families.
