Pupil Premium Funding

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional funding given to schools each year to help improve the attainment of disadvantaged children. National research shows that pupils from lower‑income families can face extra barriers to learning, and may not always achieve as well as their peers.

This funding is designed to directly support eligible pupils, helping to reduce gaps in progress and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Pupil Premium, Free School Meals, Universal Free School Meals

All children in Reception, year 1 and year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals.
Children who come from families who receive some forms of benefit may be entitled to Free School Meals for a period of time.
Any child who is entitled to Free School Meals will automatically become entitled to Pupil Premium for 6 years. This will last even if the child stops being eligible for Free School Meals.
If your child is eligible for Universal Infant Free School Meals but may also be entitled to Free School Meals then we would encourage you to apply for Free School Meals as you will receive additional benefits.

How the funding is used in school

Schools can choose how to use their Pupil Premium funding in the way that best supports their pupils, including provision that benefits the wider school community, provided eligible children can fully access it.

At Haslingfield Endowed Primary School, we are committed to treating every child as an individual and ensuring all pupils can succeed, thrive and reach their full potential. We use our Pupil Premium Grant in a variety of ways, such as providing targeted English and Maths interventions, regular mentoring and pastoral support, help with educational and enrichment trips, support with school uniform, counselling and wellbeing provision, additional learning resources and opportunities for music tuition.

Our Pupil Premium strategy, impact and spending are reviewed at the start of each academic year, looking closely at pupil progress, intervention outcomes and how funding has been allocated.

This additional funding has a positive impact on pupils’ academic progress, behaviour and attitudes to learning. All schools must publish information on the amount of funding received and how it is used, and you can download our latest report from this page. Eligibillity

Your child may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following benefits:

Income Support
Income-based Jobseekers’ Allowance
Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
Child Tax Credit (as long as you are not receiving working tax credit and your annual gross income is £16,190 or less)
Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
Working Tax Credit during the four-week run on period immediately after your employment finishes or your hours reduce
Universal Credit with an annual net earned income of £7,400 or less

Children who are currently or previously in care, including those who have been adopted or are under a Special Guardianship Order (SGO), may be eligible for Pupil Premium Plus funding. This additional support is specifically for children who have spent at least 24 hours in the care of a Local Authority in England or Wales. The application process is different from general Pupil Premium or Free School Meals, as it is not means‑tested.
