Volunteers
Volunteers are a hugely important and valued part of our school community.
Their time, skills and enthusiasm help enrich school life for all our children. We are fortunate to welcome a wide range of volunteers, including parents, grandparents and members of the local community.
Volunteers support the school in many different ways:

Joining the School Volunteer Register is the only way we can safely welcome volunteers into the school and at school events, ensuring that all safeguarding checks are in place.
Joining the Volunteer Register
To join our Volunteer Register, you will need to complete the following:

🗸 Safeguarding Training
Safeguarding Training sessions take place once each term in school and are delivered by our safeguarding team. Attendance in person is required, as these sessions include practical guidance, discussion and scenario‑based learning that cannot be replicated remotely.
School-approved Driver
As a school, we are keen to take part in local sporting fixtures and other off‑site events. However, hiring transport is often costly or impractical, and we cannot always release enough staff during the school day to accompany and transport pupils.
It is therefore a huge help when parents are willing and able to provide some additional information about their vehicle when joining the School Volunteer Register, enabling them to support with transport for these outings. This additional step allows us to safely include parent drivers and ensures we can continue offering these valuable opportunities to our children.
Safeguarding
Once all checks, references and safeguarding training are complete, volunteers are able to support in school wearing a yellow lanyard. Children recognise this as a “safe visitor” who has full clearance and may move around the school without staff escort.
Volunteers who have not yet completed all checks are still welcome to help with certain activities such as Forest School, sports events and some school events. In these cases, volunteers will wear a red lanyard, which indicates that they must remain accompanied by staff while on site.
