School Meals and Milk
HCL is our school lunch provider, and we’re proud of the fresh, tasty meals they serve each day. Their menus are designed to be nutritious, appealing and full of great ingredients to help children enjoy lunchtime and feel ready for learning all afternoon.

You can find out more about HCL and their approach to school catering on their website: Hertfordshire Catering Services.

School Meals

For children who are not eligible for Universal Free School Meals (Key Stage 1) or Free School Meals, the current cost is £3.75 per meal.

Meal choices should be made at home in advance using SchoolGrid. Families can select or change their child’s meal up until 8:30am on the day of the meal. After this cut‑off time, the day’s choices are locked so the catering team can prepare accurate quantities.

At lunchtime, children simply tap their name on the SchoolGrid screen, which shows the catering team the meal you’ve chosen for them.

If a meal has not been booked in advance, the school office will do their best to identify this and book a lunch on your child’s behalf. In these cases, the meal provided will depend on ingredient availability due to the late notice.
Milk

A daily portion of fresh, chilled milk at mid‑morning provides protein, calcium and other essential nutrients that support your child’s growth and development. It’s also a great way to keep them hydrated and help maintain concentration between breakfast and lunch.
Â
If your child is under 5, they automatically receive free milk at school through the UK Government’s Nursery Milk Scheme and this is managed by the school.

Once your child turns 5 (or if they are already over 5), you can choose to continue milk by purchasing it at a subsidised cost through our school milk supplier, Cool Milk. Â
