Curriculum Intent

At Haslingfield Endowed Primary School, we aim to foster a lifelong love of languages and an appreciation of different cultures. Our Spanish curriculum nurtures curiosity about the wider world through song, poetry, games and engaging, practical activities. Vocabulary is built progressively through a structured approach that intertwines phonics, vocabulary and grammar—the three essential pillars of language learning.

Children learn to use a range of software, resources and spoken activities to communicate confidently, laying strong foundations for future language study. By Upper Key Stage 2, pupils are encouraged to choose the most effective tools and strategies to demonstrate their understanding with increasing independence.

Spanish has been chosen as our Modern Foreign Language because it best prepares pupils for transition to our feeder secondary school, where Spanish is the main language taught in Year 7.
