Hayley Chadwick: Staff Governor
Hayley has recently completed her teaching qualification and will be leading the Early Years provision. She joined the school in September 2015, first supporting Year 1 and 2 as a Learning Coach before moving into Early Years in 2017. Over the past six years, she has also achieved a BA (Hons) in Arts with the Open University, balancing her studies alongside her school role. She hopes her degree will support her long‑term ambitions within the Education sector. Outside of school, Hayley enjoys watching her two children play football, spending time outdoors and going for walks.
Gareth Davies: Local Authority Governor
Gareth has an MChem in Chemistry and is a Chartered Chemist (CChem), with twelve years’ experience in the professional body sector supporting high‑quality scientific education and professional standards. As a member of the Chartered Management Institute (MCMI), Gareth has led work on career development and member engagement, and is passionate about widening participation in STEM. They have mentored university students from Black and ethnic minority backgrounds and supported GCSE and A‑Level Chemistry learners. As a school governor, Gareth is committed to strengthening STEM opportunities and ensuring all students receive a strong foundation for future success.
Anne Dickinson: Co-opted Governor
Anne has lived in Haslingfield for 40 years, and both her daughters attended the village primary school. A Chartered Librarian, she spent 29 years at Netherhall School and Sixth Form College, where she also served as Staff Governor. Anne believes the primary school is a vital part of the community and looks forward to supporting its staff and families.
Pieter Hall: Co-opted Governor, Chair
Pieter became Chair of Governors in September 2024. He holds a degree in Civil Engineering and currently works for Anglian Water, with a background in project and commercial management across major construction works. Pieter has lived in Haslingfield for more than 30 years and has two adult children who attended the school in the 1990s. Education has always been a strong passion for him: both his parents were teachers, with his father later becoming an inspector of schools and his mother running her own nursery for 35 years. Pieter has tutored maths and physics locally for many years and is committed to working closely with the Headteacher to ensure all children receive a nurturing, high‑quality education.
Andrew Lee: Foundation Governor
Andrew attended the Nobel School in Stevenage before reading History at Gonville and Caius, Cambridge, later gaining a PGCE from the Cambridge University Department of Education and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the University of Westminster. From 1975 to 2012, he worked in secondary education in North West London, teaching History, Government and Politics and serving as House Master, Senior Master and DSL. He has been a governor of two independent schools and, until recently, an inspector for the Independent Schools Inspectorate. Andrew is a Churchwarden and Parish Councillor in Norfolk, and he and his wife travel to Haslingfield weekly to help care for their daughter’s children. His interests include hill walking, long‑distance walking and driving steam trains.
John Lovegrove: Parent Governor
John has spent the past 23 years working as a Podiatrist. Before that, he spent 12 years touring internationally as a lighting designer, programmer, operator and technical specialist, working with major artistes including David Bowie, The Who, Stereophonics, Janet Jackson, Black Sabbath, Bon Jovi, Prince, Diana Ross, Cliff Richard and The Spice Girls, among many others. Although he no longer tours, he still performs occasionally with his Pink Floyd tribute band — alongside his wife — or plays his guitar at home, often to an audience of one very patient cat. John has a strong sense of community and a genuine commitment to supporting the school as it continues to grow and flourish.
Hugh McCurdy: Co-opted Governor
Hugh trained as a teacher following his degree in Economics and Economic history, however he was, at the time, exploring ordination in the Church of England and so never really taught full time. Hugh has lived in the Cambridge area since 1991, moving to Ely in 2004 and finally, in retirement, to Haslingfield in 2022. Hugh and his wife have three children all of whom went to school in Histon and Impington and 6th form in Cambridge. They have 5 grandchildren, three in the UK and two in San Francisco.
Donna Peck: Ex Officio, Headteacher
Donna is the Headteacher at Haslingfield Endowed Primary School and has been part of the school community since January 2013. She began her career here as the Reception class teacher, later teaching across the school and serving as Deputy Head for several years before becoming Headteacher in September 2024. Donna studied at the University of Brighton, gaining a BA (Hons) in Primary Education, and began her teaching career in Essex, where she helped lead and develop a new EYFS block in a three‑form‑entry school. Across her career in both Essex and Cambridge, she has led English, Maths, PSHE and PE across all three key stages. At home, Donna is kept busy by her two children and her very energetic springer spaniels.
Zoe Tearle: Parent Governor
Zoe is a founding member and director of a Cambridge‑based public relations and marketing agency, where she is an experienced communications leader. She has particular expertise in supporting schools and multi‑academy trusts with strategic communication and community engagement. Passionate about tackling educational inequality, Zoe is committed to creating opportunities for all children to thrive. As a parent at the school, she brings both professional insight and personal dedication to her role as a Parent Governor, seeing the position as an important bridge between families and the governing body to ensure parents’ and carers’ voices are reflected in the decisions shaping the school’s future.
